The Effectiveness of Giving Cold Cabbage Leaf Compress Breast Care to Handle Breast Milk on Postpartum Mother: Literature Review

Abstract
Introduction: Problems when brestfeeding that will arise during the postpartum or during breastfeeding are breast milk dams, namely there is swelling in the breasts. This breast milk dam can occur because the lactiferous tract is limited by organs that are not completely depleted. Objective: The purpose this literature review is to explore the effectiveness of Cold Cabbage Leaf Compress and Breast Care to treat breastfeeding during postpartum mothers. Method: The articles were compiled using the literature review method contained in the database of health journals namely Science and Technology Index (SINTA), PubMed and Google Scholar. Articles are taken based on full text, open access, in English and Indonesian and published in the last 5 years (2016-2021). Result: 1 article PubMed, 1 article from Science and Technology Index (SINTA) with a rating of 4, and 8 articles from Google Scholar. Cabbage leaves contain sulfur that is able to shrink enlargement and swelling in the breast. In addition, there is a corrosive Amino Methionine content that serves as an anti-infection, several other substances like Sinigrin. (Allylisothiocyanate), Oil Mustard Magnesium is also a sulfurous oxalide. The content of these substances can help facilitate the vessels blood. Which serves to expand blood flow, so that the body can re-accommodate the fluid retained in the breast. Conclusion: Compress the Leaves Cabbage Cold and Breast Care is more successful in overcoming the problem of swollen breasts for postpartum mothers.
