Factors Influencing Formula Feeding at the Age of 0-6 Months: Scoping Review

Abstract

Introduction: Breastfeeding is very important for survival for children in nutritional growth and development. Exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months has many benefits for mothers and babies, one of which is protection against stomach infections. Formula milk is a modified infant formula made from a variety of products, including animal milk, soy and vegetable oils. Objective: to study what factors influence formula feeding in infants between the ages of 0 and 6 months. Method: The method used in this research is scoping. The literature search in this study used 2 health journal databases, namely PUBMED and Google Scholar. Featured articles published in the last 10 years. Total search results are 99 articles and found 9 articles. Result: Breast milk substitute is of course given for medical indications. Infant conditions such as neonatal galactosemia, post-maple syrup urine disease unresponsive to breast milk. While the results found on the factors that influence the provision of infant formula 0-6 months, namely: personal maternal factors such as mother's work and social factors such as support from medical personnel, family support, social media, and delivery in health facilities Conclusion: From the findings of this review it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the mother's career, medical personnel assistance, family support, social networks, and delivery in a facility. Formula feeding between the ages of 0 and 6 months.
