Abstract

Wastewater from hotels and apartments consists of dirty water from toilets (black water); used water from the bathroom, sink, kitchen; and laundry (grey water) and rainwater disposal. The sewerage system in hotel and apartment buildings is highly dependent on the ground water level in each location. The method used in this research is to purposively choose hotel and apartment buildings in the city of Semarang which have been assessed by the Semarang City Building Expert Team and have received a certificate of worthiness (SLF). The results showed that out of 10 hotel and apartment buildings, there were 7 hotel and apartment buildings that were not feasible to discharge their wastewater into infiltration wells because the groundwater level was relatively shallow, so they had to dispose of their wastewater into city drainage channels. Meanwhile, 3 other hotel and apartment buildings deserve to dispose of their wastewater into infiltration wells. The existence of hotel and apartment buildings that use infiltration wells will maintain the balance of the water balance in the area. But not all hotel and apartment buildings can do this, because shallow groundwater levels are not very effective when using infiltration wells.
