Side Effects of Using Injection Contraceptive: Literature Review

Abstract
Introduction: Injectable contraception is the protection most preferred by KB users. The coverage of family planning acceptors in 2021 chooses many injections, namely 59.9%. This birth control injection has 99% effectiveness and is safe and does not affect milk production, but most users of injection birth control do not understand well what the side effects are from using the injection. Objective: To review the literature regarding side effects that can occur in injecting contraceptive users. Method: The method used in this writing is literature review obtained from health databases such as Elsavier, Pubmed, Indonesian Scientific Journal Database (ISTD) and also through the Google Scholar website. Articles selected for the last 5 years (2017-2022) both national and international articles. Result: 10 articles from 1 Elsevier article, 3 articles from Pubmed, 4 articles from ISTD, and 2 articles from Google Scholar which discuss the side effects of injecting birth control users. Conclusion: The conclusion obtained is that there are side effects that occur in injection contraceptive users, namely menstrual disorders, namely amenorrhoea, spotting and weight gain.
