Literature Review: Consumption of Dark Chocolate to Prevent Preeclampsia

Abstract

Preeclamsia is a complication in pregnancy that has high morbidity and mortality, a sign of preeclamsia usually due to gestasional hypertension and protein urua. There are about 76,000 pregnant women who die as a result of hypertension and preeclamsia. Preeclampsia is pregnansy specific syndrom in the form of a lack of organ perfusion due to endothelial dysfunction and vasopasm. One of the non-pharmacological treatments for preeclampsia is consuming chocolate. Method: Literature is traced through electronic media with keyword guidance. 2 selected articles, as well as 2 selected nasional literature each representing an effect of chocolate on the preventation of preeclampsia. Results: The result show that there is an effect of chocolate on the prevention of preeclampsia. Discussion: One of the non-pharmacological ways that can by pregnant women. Where the content of dark chocolate which is rich in flavonoids and theobromine can prevent preeclampsia in pregnant women. Conclusion: The conclusion based on the analysis that hasbeen done is that the use of chocolate is effective in redicing high blood pressure.
