Pettern of Sexual Relations During Pegnancy: Literature Review

Abstract

Background: The mother's sexual pattern during pregnancy will definitely be different from before pregnancy because during pregnancy the mother experiences several psychological, physical, and hormonal changes. This of course will affect the sexual relationship of husband and wife so that sexual relations have decreased. Objective: To determine the pattern of sexual intercourse of pregnant women during pregnancy. Methods: This review was taken from several sources obtained through a systematic search study of computerized databases (google scolar, pubmed). The criteria for determining the keywords were “sexual intercourse, “pregnant women”, “position of sexual intercourse”. The articles obtained and analyzed according to the title are 3 national articles and 4 international articles. Results: Pregnant women were most sexually active in the second trimester. Sponning, missionary and doggy positions were the most comfortable sexual positions and were preferred by pregnant women and their partners. Conclusion: The sexual pattern of each pregnant woman varies greatly. The majority of pregnant women are actively engaged in the second trimester with a frequency of 2 times a week, because in the first and third trimester pregnant women experience various changes such as: weakness, nausea, vomiting, headaches, anxiety and worry for the baby they are carrying, so that pregnant women are less active in have sex with a variety of positions that are selected including the position of sponning, missionary and doggy.
