Malakah Knowledge Quality: A New Concept of Knowledge Acquisition and Knowledge Implementation Processes Based on Islamic Values

Abstract

This study aims to develop a new concept called “Malakah Knowledge Quality (MKQ)” along with its measurement scale. MKQ is the result of the intervention of the human capital concept in the dimensions of knowledge quality and knowledge management practices in knowledge acquisition and implementation activities with an Islamic value, namely, malakah. This study used an exploratory approach and literature studies validated through focus group discussion (FGD) with experts. Furthermore, for measurement validation, data was collected from one hundred university lecturers in Indonesia. The data was analyzed using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) procedures. This study complements the literature in the field of human resource development, especially in human capital and knowledge management. The results of EFA and CFA conclude that there are sixteen indicators to measure knowledge quality in the context of lecturers in Indonesia. This study is limited to universities in Indonesia. Thus, to apply these indicators in a broader and global context, future researchers need to conduct similar research in several different institutions or contexts throughout the world. This study is the first attempt to examine and measure the quality process of acquiring and implementing knowledge, which involves cognitive and affective aspects of individuals based on religious values.
