A Model to Determine Social Identity of the Organization: The Role of Employee Engagement and Positive Work Behavior

Abstract
This research aims to develop a comprehensive model to determine workplace social identity. Employee or staff is the main ambassador of an organization. It is expected that external stakeholders or the society will rely on the reputation of the organization. In order to prepare staff to become a leading ambassador in an organization, it is important to strengthen employee engagement in the organization. We analyze the role of the inner spirit of work or meaning of work, Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB), and learning goal orientation to improve organizational engagement which in turn will strengthening organizational social identity. Data were collected from 82 academic staff of a university in Indonesia and analyzed by using SPSS. The results showed that three factors (meaning of work, OCB and learning goal organization) can enhance employee engagement as main driver for strengthening social identity of the organization.
