Performance Enhancement of Electric Power Steering: A Review

Abstract

In a few years, electric power steering technology has succeeded in replacing the hydraulic steering system and the electric hydraulic steering system. This technology has improved even more because electric vehicles have begun to be used. The study discusses issues related to improving electric power steering performance and provides an overview of the control strategies that have been implemented. The fist, the paper comprehensively introduces the classification of electric power steering and power assist. The second, application of control systems is presented, starting from conventional control including proportional-integral-derivative, continuing with artificial intelligence such as fuzzy logic control, artificial neural networks, to optimization using particle swarm optimization. Also discussed was identifying future challenges and opportunities.
