MOC Approach and Its Integration with Social Network and ICT: The Role to Improve Knowledge Transfer

Wikaningrum T.

Abstract

Initially, the study of knowledge management emphasized the role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). However, policies in human resource management are crucial factors that determine the quality of organizational knowledge management. In the context of knowledge management, HRM practices should use specific measurement instruments. Most of the studies have examined the use of the configuration of HRM functions. Furthermore, this article aims to examine the motivation-opportunity-competency (MOC) approach as a dimension of HRM in knowledge management research. With this approach, policies in employee management are aimed at encouraging the willingness of individuals to share knowledge, provide opportunities for sharing and interaction, and improve employee competence. Its integration with social network and the application of ICT is expected to be able to improve human capital, which in turn supports knowledge transfer capability. Therefore, this paper discusses the MOC approach, underlying phenomena and conceptual model to improve knowledge transfer capability. For future research, it is suggested to test the validity of the instruments and conceptual model proposed by this article.
