Abstract
Generation Z (Gen Z) is now beginning to dominate the global workforce, significantly changing workplace dynamics. Various studies indicate that the behaviors, expectations, and preferences of Gen Z in the workplace differ markedly from those of previous generations. Gen Z has unique expectations, such as work flexibility, work-life balance, and a need for meaning and recognition in their jobs. These differences require Human Resource Departments (HRD) to understand their characteristics and design appropriate strategies. This research aims to identify the behavioral patterns and work expectations of Gen Z, as well as the implications for human resource management. The method used in this study is a systematic literature review, which examines various journals and empirical studies related to the behaviors and expectations of Gen Z in the workplace. The findings indicate that Gen Z's primary expectations include work flexibility, a need for continuous career development, and an appreciation for diversity and inclusion. Additionally, they tend to be more responsive to open communication and ongoing feedback. Based on the literature mapping, it is concluded that HR managers should implement effective onboarding strategies, provide relevant career development programs, and create a work culture that supports employees’ mental and emotional well-being. By understanding the behavioral patterns and expectations of Gen Z, organizations can enhance the engagement of young employees, create an inclusive work environment, and ensure long-term success.
